@michaelrose93 The small blue piece of fabric is called a slider, its job is to slow the parachute opening to make it more comfortable. You see the videographer pulling cords to collapse it once it has served its purpose. The landing is quite normal for someone with thousands of jumps. Rest assured that student landings are nowhere near as fast.
What's up with the smaller blue chute that the guy with the camera is using? At first it's not working, then he straightens it out, then it really gets all twisted up and after that you don't see it. Did he give up on that one or what? Also, are landings usually at such a high speed? It was graceful, and all, but it looked like a birds-eye view of an eagle swooping in on prey - at the last second he levels out. Are most dives that?
