@6billiondeaths well we all our opinions. i am less critical of him now i have spent a bit more time coming to terms with the whole doherty anxtieness.
@123jsbach Its a binary opposite - I wont despair while I am dying inside. It's actually very clever and paints such a vivid picture of the hopelessness his entire life. This might not only be one of my favourite Doherty songs but my most favourite performance of his on mainstream TV, its amazing to see, and heart breaking at the same time.
@dylanparker72 by life on mars I believe he is referencing David Bowie's 'Life on Mars'. I've always taken it to be a reference to the feelings of despair, exile, ecstasy, and everything in between associated with the kind of life he has led thus far.
@dylanparker72 I have the greatest respect for anyone who has drug problems and trys their best to overcome it. lyrics obviously appeal to people where there is a relevance to them. emotionally the lyrics here (to me) are kind of all over the place; it seems he says he wont be bound to despairing thoughts but then goes on to say that he sees sorrow in front of him. alas sorrow awaits us all in life, love+death. what is life without experiencing sorrow and all thats associated with it?
@dylanparker72 I dont know much about his guitar playing generally but based on this its a bit scruffy. His voice is basic and his song writing? I suppose its quite exploratory in terms of key and harmony, but melodically its monotonous, even with the unusual key changes. Lyrically? bit rambled. Me no likey! Men are from Mars and women are from Venus reference? I dont like generalisations. But,as you are clever person I acknowledge that there must be something worth listening to in his music.;)

@Nussfred95 aye maybe i will write a book about it...........maybe not. life itself is enough of an illustration to bother.

@dylanparker72 just to clarify; sorrow and happiness cannot exist without the other. you have to experience both to understand the beauty of both.
