Are people actually trying to promote it? I think thats great. It's kind of sad Louisiana lost it's culture a bit. Here in Quebec, it's a totally different story. French is the official language of the province. It would be cool if Louisiana had french taught in it's schools and that it was recognized as an official language of the state.

Oh French is taught in schools here. There are even a few French Imerssion schools and tons of French imerssion projects. It's not dead, just "at risk" if you will. Creole unfortunately isn't taught in school. There are one or two colleges that have it as a course

Her french is standard actually...but to be honest..I THINK IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY THAT LOUISIANA CHILDREN BE AT LEAST PROFICIENT IN FRENCH...we could start with standard french and introduce them to cajun french and creole...IT'S A START..cause no one is LEARNING ANY FRENCH

I think that's great. I will definately make sure that when I have kids, they learn french and are as fluently bilingual as I am. Thats what's great about Quebec, you get to learn both.
