I live in Texas and have read anything and everything I can find on Creole history. So fascinating. Thank you for the video. Beautiful language.

@lexdiamonds1990 well, yeah, I agree. But how many cajun/creole teachers are there???? Very few. Not nearly enough to fill the need of the state. Why do you think they have to import teachers from Canada? If we wait for enough french cajun teachers, it will be too late.

@emergencyexit16 : Louisiana have had laws against the use of french language in schools in early 20th century, just like Ontario has had. Those are both cases of anglo-majority states that couldn't get rid of the language by softer means. But in the USA, such assimilation tactics hardly had any political price, whereas in Canada, it defined much of the politics and was one of the major things that led to Duplessism.

@emergencyexit16 I actually think it should be the reverse...people in Louisiana should learn the French of LOUISIANA first because that is their heritage, and then they can learn International Standard French.

@TsalagiAgvnage True, but in comparison to the entire population of louisiana 4 million people, very few are learning french. French has to become the language OF everyday LIFE..not just in the classroom. When I go to target, I want to be greeted with BONJOUR, CA VA? not Hello, how are you? Get what I mean?
Her french is standard actually...but to be honest..I THINK IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY THAT LOUISIANA CHILDREN BE AT LEAST PROFICIENT IN FRENCH...we could start with standard french and introduce them to cajun french and creole...IT'S A START..cause no one is LEARNING ANY FRENCH
