I'm afraid I have to be the Emperor's got no clothes little boy in the crowd here. I find this totally unmoving. What I think is needed here is a bigger, bolder voice under control. Emma Kirkby is a superb singer and I know of no singer who falters less in pitch, but to me this is like a circuit of Brand's Hatch in a Ford Focus.

All hail, Emma Kirkby. The only performance of this I enjoyed more was the the boy soprano Harnoncourt used in his 1970s recording.

This piece can be sung at any speed and sound great. But to suit the words it needs to be slower...

Her voice is wonderful, and it sounds pretty with this tempo. But it doesn't seem to fit the text. such a sad song.
