We typically test drive family cars, so we were more than a little surprised at the additional attention people paid to the screaming yellow 2010 Camaro we drove around sunny Southern California.

Occasionally we even invited enthusiasts of the 2010 Camaro in for a look around, as we did in this video, when two employees of a local supermarket got excited about the car.

We tested the Camaros, 2LT Coupe version. It comes standard with a fast 300 horsepower, advanced technology direct-injected, 3.6 liter V6 engine.

If you want even more muscle, the Camaro can be ordered in an SS version with one of two different 6.2 liter V8 engines to choose from, delivering either 400 or 422 horsepower depending on whether you order an automatic (that comes with fuel-saving Active Fuel Management) or manual transmission.

Our test drive vehicle was equipped with the fun Rally Sport package that includes 20 inch painted aluminum wheels with a rear spoiler and unique tail lamps.

At $37,815 the Camaro is the bargain of todays current crop of muscle cars that includes Fords Mustang Shelby GT500 and the Dodge Challenger SRT8. General Motors notes that also among the Camaros key competitors are the Nissan 370Z, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and the BMW 3 series.

Structurally the Camaro is a dream to handle. Our test drive model, for example, had a nifty Sport suspension. Four-wheel disc brake systems are standard on all models, with four-piston Brembo calipers included on SS models.

There is an amazing array of instruments deeply recessed in the dash. They were cool to look at, and are great for monitoring engine conditions and performance, yet we wondered about their actual utility. Outside there are halogen headlamps with automatic on/off control.

To use a term from the era when ancestors of the 2010 Camaro prowled the streets, it is a groovy muscle car which gets a lot of looks and comments, as well as an estimated fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon highway.

In addition to brawn, the Camaro is also brainy and designed for safety. It comes with an anti-lock braking system and dual stage frontal airbags with passenger sensing, side impact thorax airbags. Front and rear head curtain side airbags are included as well. For extra security the Onstar system provides automatic crash response.
An auxiliary jack and USB port are conveniently located in the center console.

So, if your family garage has room for another addition, this millenniums version of the classic Camaro muscle car is in showrooms awaiting your adoptionand your next exciting parents night out.

  • i guess the camaro is a chick's car , i bought a 2011 mustang lol , my how the tables have turned

  • I agree with stang1100, if your gonna get rally yellow, get black rims. (and in my opinion, black racing stripes.)

  • for a girl it's important that you can "push it back" :)

  • @EclipseGS04 However, Ford fought back with the 2011 version. Even though the Camaro is a pure looker, the Mustang has the refinement.

  • @livininpoland Hahaha yeah it does!

  • CAMARO DOES BEAT MUSTANG & CHALLENGER IN PERFORMANCE & LOOKS! Stop acting like a NOOB!

  • does not beat the challenger or the mustang in performance!

  • Thats transformer abuse, you will be reported

  • Went to florida last summer and rented one of these. I was pure fun and joy! It did turn a LOT of heads though!

  • That's a nice car, what would look nice on the car is a pair of black rims.
