  • Hello, I'm new to sculpting. For a sculpture this size, what's the best tempature to bake it and for how long? I love your work!!!!!! You've helped me so much!!!! ^_^

  • @WolfCryMidNight313 Hi...so happy you are enjoying the Video sculpting segments... I baked the head, hands, arms, legs and feet all at the same temp. approx. 260 degrees...any hotter (say 300) and you will run the risk of 'over-baking' and burning the clay. ...and cooler and the clay will not throughly bake and fix. I always remove the object being baked from the oven when finished...I never leave it in the oven until cooled...you over bake when you do that...clay can become brittle.

  • this technique work with cold porcelain?

  • @nursepr19 Hmmm not really sure ...am guessing the only thing that might apply would be the actual sculpting techniques...but porcelain is a totally different medium with firing, building up etc...although there is such a thing as direct sculpt porcelain

  • @nursepr19 OK...I may have misunderstood...I thought you were speaking of the 'sculpting' part... if you mean the coloration with pastel and painting...yes...I believe it would...best way to know is to give it a test run...

  • so get watercolors and crunch them up?

  • Hi Mariamparker ,,,

I use pastels ...not watercolors to color face with a smooth over all color ..and then use acrylic paints for details and eyes

  • hi there! i have just started to sculpt and i am trying to teach myself based on your videos, which by the way are AMAZING! but i have a question, is this 'colouring step' before or after you bake the Sculpey!? Because i was planning on painting my doll with acrylics after the baking but what you are doing there seems to have a much more natural finish. so if you could please let me know if is this is done before/after baking it would be greatly appreciated! ThankYou!

  • What a talented lady

  • Id love to see more. where can i purchase a dvd?

  • You are truly gifted and thank you so much for sharing! I would like to ask, are you applying the pastels to baked or unbaked clay, and once applied, what do you use to seal the color onto the clay?

    Thanks again!

  • Thanks for posting these videos, but you make it look too easy! After baking, could your sculptures be waterproofed for use in a fountain or for outdoors?

  • I have a really dumb question....Is the head baked prior to coloring or no?

  • fantastic videos thank you

  • amazing!!!!! you master i love your class

  • how do you keep the pastel colors on the face are you using a sealer after applying?

By the way, thank you so much for the tip regarding adding cheekbones/orbital bones which has finally stopped me from having sculptures with wrap around eyes.
