...would you rather she just shyed away from the topic, or pretend it didn't exist? This isn't Gloomy Sunday. Also, EA's fanbase is generally open minded and intelligent. Many of whom have been through similar things themselves. For many the cutting diary put their thoughts into words that they could never find, and the pictures show a braveness than many never had.To sum up (sorry 4 this epic post), while you may not like the book you should not discredit it- it all comes down to personal taste

...not for our benifit. This book is solely for her her. I find that while the pictures of her cut legs may be "disturbing" for some, it is not something that should be hidden away from. The only time cutting is talked about in contemporary society is either by people who have nevver been through it and are telling it's wrong, or by the attention seekers who discredit anyone who at one stage has used it as a legitimate way to help themselves. To say it's not appropriate is just, well, wrong..

I was just wondering... how graphic is the book? I'm 15 year old fan, so yeah :P Are the pictures really really bad or is it just kind of odd that cutting photos would be put in there? Also... how graphic is the writing about sex, violence, etc. I'm thinking of buying it so I'd like to hear more of your opinion on it. :) thanks.

I ordered this book, but I haven't received it yet. I'm looking forward to getting it, though I respect your opinions and I think it's absolutely no-one's right but yours how you feel about it! Also, I love your hair. <3 It's so pretty.

I just got the book yesterday, and flipped through it to look at the art. Have started reading it, not too far in. I came across this video when searching for a quote from the book (the letter from Emily -with a y- on pg 27).
I agree with you about the photos. I've been a cutter since I was 12 (21 now) and still struggle with it to this day. Seeing those photos was a definite trigger, though I respect the reasons why they're there.
So far, I'm enjoying the book - it's very authentic.

I'm not going to flame you or anything, I just wanted to say that I don't agree with you about Emilie's book. But we all have our own preferences I guess. There's nothing I can say to defend the book to you that hasn't already been said in the comments :P like that it wasn't aimed at teenage girls. Emilie's fans come in all ages.

If you don't want the book I'll gladly take it :). Lol, I do have my own copy.

I know evryone can have their own opinions, but as an argument against the book this isn't a particullarly great review. Yes, EA does write a bit flowery, but i personally love that. While less may be more to you, more is awesome to me. As for the cutting diary and such, firstly, this book is not just aimed at teenage girls. Her fanbase is actually more diverse than people give it credit for. Also, this book is her "telling the truth". This is her saying exactly what happened, and it is...
Please, read a whole book and then give opinions because this is pathetic for now.
