Students in my course (COMM 175-IP) put together a 2-day campaign to bring awareness to the negative consequences of using unprescribed Adderall (and similar prescription drugs) as a study drug. They also provided alternatives (de-stressing methods & food/drink alternatives). This was done on the campus of UC-Santa Barbara and was covered by the local news.

  • So sorry to hear about your loss, pwg1126. By bringing attention to this issue as you are, you are serving his memory so very well.

  • @pwg1126 Peace of Christ be with you. I am sorry for your loss. It is a shame and an outrage.

  • And if caught with a harmless green plant you will be nearly beaten to death by police. That speaks for itself, I think.

  • My 22 year old son died in Nov of 2009 when his ADD drug Ritalin became his addiction. He was prescribed this drug at age 12 and doctors don't warn you how addictive this drug can become, especially for teens and young adults. Nora Volkow tells about how these drugs are damaging the frontal lobe and causing the yes no decisions to be affected. She states that with 90 days of treatment the brain can recover in young people. Older addicts may have no hope of repair. I screwed up Sean. Sorry.

  • haha adderall deffently IS benificial for everyone. I think for most people a headace, not being hungry, being thirsty, trouble sleeping, trouble busting a nut, frustration or being alittle sad for one night is WITHOUT A DOUBT worth that a+ and acceptance into med school.

  • wtf? Now they're advocating coffee and soda to be better than adderall? wtf has america come too. I hate mass media blowing things up to scare the masses of the ignorant america

  • The side effects are the same for all, and the benefits can greatly exceed the side effects for people both with and without the disorder. It's a shame that ADHD-drugs are a prescription drug, and not freely available for everybody.

  • "you're are ignorant" hahahaha you=fail

  • you're are ignorant? So your idea of defending a drug is to insult me for about 200 words and say i have down syndrome? There is no point even discussing adderall, once you've seen one zombie on adderall you have seen them all. Fool

  • Using your rationale, taking a blood pressure pill "to get through everday [sic] life is" a problem? No. Taking adderall regulates chemical bodily functions just like any other prescribed medication. Further, applying your narrow interpretation of the rule renders all medication "whats [sic] wrong [with society]"

    Wow.... again: Appalachian State
