It can't be said, exactly how much Jaco was influenced by African music, but it CAN be be said that he has had a huge influence on modern African bass playing. Richard Bona stands out today as the giant of African bass playing; and it is no secret that has been a Jaco-phile since he was a young man in Cameroon.

@matalmike Nope! He has very sweaty hands and uses the gloves primarily to extend lifetime of his strings.
