i think he plays up bein a nerd, and that he's actually not.. which is way cooler than actin cool when you're actually not haha. and to everyone sayin old and real doo-wop is better, i wouldn't care if none of em could sing, cos the songwriting here is exactly what i needed in my life!!

I think thats what you want to see...im sure he was quite a nerd, but with increasing success and its accoutrements over the years, his nerdiness is diminished. its not rare with musicians/artists.... mayers style is pretty much 'hipster',(not too original) which has a nerdiness about it. btw watch 'ask mayer' in some of those he sounds like a true nerd.

true. he looks completely different as his alias "haircut". i believe he plays up being a nerd as well, but his music is still fiyaaaaaaaa
