might have been caused because of a cobble stone but the white painted lines definitely contributed to the slip of the wheels... I have slipped uphill before while standing up pedaling straight up and I ended up slipping out on the wet white line easily.

There was a cobble on the corner that had been moved out of place, probably by the lead cars. I think it was the front wheel he caught on the cobble and just went down. Unsighted by the rider in front of him.
