I was there tonight as the factory that makes these wood tanks went up in flames. Williamsburg is full of smoke tonight. Lots of other unwelcome fireworks.

yes, the wood staves swell and thus the tank remains watertight, just like a whiskey barrel -- which you should be quite familiar to you, knifebucket.
