  • It's okay... The 70-year thing is not much different than a 100-year flood. During the course of that time, there is a given percentage of a chance that it could occur during those 70 years. So while we're at the anniversary mark, it doesn't mean it's going to hit this year. It may be next year, may be 10 or 20 years. Hard to say... Hang in there. ;)

  • (raises hand) so basically we're all screwed....

  • ACKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! Why didn't anyone tell me this BEFORE!

  • knowledge is power.

  • another break with Hurricane Bill missing NYC and The east Coast.

  • HURRICANE BILL

  • I didn't see the Long Island Express first hand, my mother told me about it. She was 8 at the time. I do remember from 1954 to 1997 all the Hurricanes which smacked into Long Island. If you haven't seen a hurricane in the metro NY area, well, don't take it lightly. A cat2 can be very dangerous.

  • we really have to get prepared for this

  • The storm surge will be about 30 feet so the areas in Washington Heights that is 30 feet above sea level or less will be underwater. Where it's more than 30 feet above sea level wll be above water.

  • i dont think he wants a scenario like that to take place...but by 2011, i hope everyone in New York will have done everything to prepare. More people will have moved in by then, economy still in the crapper, this would be sheer disaster
