Spaldings death was so New York, almost camp. He more or less told us all this was comming. But he left us with more than most men do or have the ability to do. He was done, no matter how much we would've liked to have had more. The "talking cure" was finished, and Spalding really still lives forever. i know he taught me a lot
Phillips Glass wrote a piece specifically for Spalding's memorial, perhaps you could have that as your backing track? I was at the memorial, and it was very very sad, yet somehow uplifting at the same time. (if that makes any sense). Spald, we all miss you SO MUCH!
It is the theme to MASH. It was used in the original movie directed by Robert Altman 2 years before the TV show premiered. The only actor who is the same is Gary Burghoff, who plays Radar O'Reilly. Familiar faces: Donald Sutherland as Hawkeye, Elliott Gould as Trapper, Robert Duvall as Major Burns plues a few others. If you haven't seen it it's well worth the rental.
I think Spalding would have laughed his ass off at the "drug store sentimentality" of this insipid crap.
And I am a very big Spalding Gray fan.

This song sounds like the theme song to MASH.

Bless your heart. My life had to take a pause on that day, for I felt as though I had lost a good friend.
Glad to know I am not the only person who was deeply touched by his work. I could relate to him on so many levels...
