This week our host Greg will play his interview Dr. Valerie Tarico!
Dr. Tarico is a psychologist and former fundamentalist Christian who now speaks to secular groups and progressive churches on moral development, the psychology of belief, and wisdom convergence. Her book The Dark Side shows how Evangelical teachings corrupt love and truth (the subtitle, in fact), while her new book Trusting Doubt examines Evangelical beliefs and shows where they're opposed to objective reality as we've discovered it. She also contributed an essay on the psychology of belief to the John Loftus edited The Christian Delusion titled "Christian Belief Through The Lens of Cognitive Science".
Dr. Tarico blogs at her site Away Point. Stop by her page here on Think Atheist.
@zytigon Thx for tha info. Yeah I love myths, horned creatures absolutely are the source of unicorn or other myths. This comes from the fact that people didn't understand the actual interrelatedness between species. But I'm exacetaly not sure what my comment was about .. gotta check that and the vid above. Cheers!

@8DX Have you read wikipedia that it is thought that Narwhal may have been the source of the Unicorn myth. Hunters brought Narwhal tusk & skull to Europe and people wrongly imagined what it might have looked like alive.

@Mogley52 The anatomy of carnivores & omnivores is intrinsically adapted to catching, killing & eating other animals. There has been death in the world for as long as they had that anatomy. Humans have 98% same genes as chimpanzee so surely must also have always been mortal. Gen 3v21- 24 says that humans never ate of the tree of life therefore can not be immortal. Therefore there is no need for a saviour. The O.T. knows only of Sheol which was a place of non existance.

@Mogley52 Try talkorigins for the evolution v creation debate. Try reading about chromosome 2 human. I agree with your point that the doctrine of hell evolved from Greek roots.

ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. Ranganathan (B.A. theology/biology)

APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from ape-like creatures anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from four-legged-pawed dog-like creatures. Read Internet article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE.
