I made an adult hat out of an old Zeppelin t-shirt based on this pattern. I didn't make it with the band though since I made it to be a ski helmet liner. I might make a video response on how I did it.

i like how you didnt allow there to be seems inside the hat, which can irritate the babies head. Most hats that i found do have seems on the inside, so this is great that i can now make hats like this for my cousins! Good Job and Great Thinking!
