Level 99 in FF12 in under 50 hours with little story progress? Seems impossible, doesn't it, considering you don't have access to the embroidered tippet? What's more, it's not just one character that gets this, but 4 and it's doable in potentially 40 hours at a very fast run! This video is comprised of 8 stages with typically 3 parts in each stage. Stage 6 involves making some story progress so the all-important "immobilize" spell becomes available and Vaan is alone for the last time. You will also need the "Martyr" license, found in the upper left corner of the augments section - this will significantly improve the success rate of immobilization. With immobilize at your finger tips and the burning bow, even the fiercest foes become helpless. This will allow you to defeat enemies that, with the kind of armor available at this point in the game, and the low level you have, would be suicidal (meaning that certain game over is bound to occur). Now, you can defeat these kinds of enemies without even getting hit. Sure an enemy may defeat your lone Vaan in 3 hits and Vaan needs 8+ hits to defeat it, but with immobilize, you can simply keep your distance and pound away at the powerful foe until it is defeated. If immobilize fails to succeed on even one enemy, run and I mean run! This only works on foes that use physical attacks and short-range special attacks. This does not work on magic users such as the entites and elementals (these are simply not worth fighting anyway - they're too powerful and their "sleep" spell means death for Vaan). To shave off time, skip this stage of the process and immediately go to stage 7. It'll be riskier as immobilize is more likely to fail, but there is a considerable difference in speed.
Hey, me again. Would it be worth it to start over if I wanted to do the 70-hour method instead? (Assuming I only got as far as this video and have already done the ND event?)

If you have a save from before you made the story progress, use that. Otherwise, you'll have to start from the beginning. This is why my GameFAQs guide urges you to have this backup save. It does mean having to get the burning bow again.

ulillillia would it matter if you got the silver bow??????? instead

The silver bow is much too weak to deal with anything above stage 6 of the process so it won't work for the later stages. It can work quite well for stages 4 and earlier though.

Following the seventy hour method... getting to 55 on werewolves was monotonous... and I know it's just going to get worse now. I made it a point to get a 200 chain of werewolves per day (usually about two hours)... when this stopped leveling me four times, I made it a point to level four times per day... I ended up doing a 300 chain at one point.
Also - You aren't kidding about these videos being outdated... the gamefaqs guide is much more refined and efficient.

You'll be able to defeat the werewolves quite fast later on which does accelerate the process considerably. You can start the dive talons later, but it's much more difficult as you'll need 4 hits in order to defeat them, quite a bit.
