From the 64th Annual Academy Awards in 1992.

Jerry Orbach, in the persona of his character Lemuiere from "Beauty and the Beast," sings and dances as part of a spotlight of that year's "Best Song" nominees. He performs "Be Our Guest" as dancers coreographed by Debbie Allen dance behind him.

I don't know why, but I kept laughing while watching this - I guess the image of his character on "Law and Order," the gruff Lennie Brisco, kept flashing through my mind as he sang and danced his way though the song. He was so talented though, and this is such a fun performance.

  • He can and did sing this tune with a French accent. I'm sorry that this tune didn't get the Oscar for "Best Song"..the title tune of"Beauty & The Beast"won the Oscar..which is..forgetable.

  • @TheStanbabe - It was also up against the little girl from the movie "Hook." I saw her performance...it was ok, but this was splashy and awesome! Debbie Allen did all the choreography for the ceremony this particular year.

  • not listening!

  • @piolin7 - Dare I ask...to what? :-(

  • Jerry Orbach?! Woah, way different side to him from Law and Order. haha

  • @cstoczyn Jerry is one of my two favorite actors (Ross Martin is the other) and I researched his career. I have the original cast CDs to Chicago, 42nd Street, and Carnival. I also have Jerry's solo CD, which includes music from Three Penny Opera.
