DISNEY'S 10th Old Man : American cartoon artist, animator , animation instructor , film and commercial producer Jack Dunham was the last of the original Walt Disney Crew, yet somehow was swept under the carpet of their history long before his time. He wanted anyone ever looking him up to know the truth. -Jack worked his way up from artist to animation instructor to unit manager (producer) for Disney from 1932- 1947. (with a couple years mid 1930's animating with Walter Lantz at Universal) (government records shown 1/2 way through video) Filmed at 95 yrs old.
He was an artist on the original Snow White feature, worked on most of the classics like Bambi, Fantasia, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Jack in the Beanstalk and was the Disney producer Walt sent to Mexico to represent Walt and handle the production of Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros during WW2.
Note: The Social Security Administration didn't start taking deductions until 1937, so the government only have records going back to the first year Jack came back to work for Disney in 1938 where he taught animation there for the next 4 years until becoming a producer (titled unit manager in those days) until 1947. Be sure to check out Jack's other videos for some very cool and rare classic Disney history.
He is survived by his loving wife, former New York model Dorothy Stewart.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jack in Ottawa when he went AWOL from the hospital....he took the time to tell me many stories from the Disney days and even showed me some of his work...a legend in his own right RIP
