The clash between Hong Kong and Japan kicked off at HKFC in the afternoon of what seemed to be a very intense and interesting game. At first kick off Japan was direct and up on HK's scrambled defense line. Japan came on top at half-time with 31 - 3 against HK. During the second half, HK's determination gave them 19 points to add on the scoreboard due to critical mistakes (miscommunication & handling) by the Japan side yet Japan came on top with 45 - 22.
HKG try scorers: Alex McQueen, Mark Goosen and Rowan Varty.
JPN try scorers: Alisi Tupuailei x 3, Ryukoliniasi Holani, Shaun Webb, Hirotoki Onozawa and Michael Leitch.
Yellow cards: (HKG) Ross Armour. (HKG) Nick Hewson.
Abreviation:
Japan's attack was OK. Defense was not as good as you'd expect. Handling errors = too many to count. Miscommunication in the back line. Errors which need to be worked on thoroughly if they want a chance in the World Cup.
HK's attack was normal. Defense was average. Handling errors = not as many as Japan. Individual discipline needs work - 2 yellow cards was very costly to the team with 14 men twice during the game. HK has a high chance of winning the A5N. HK utilized Japan's mistakes and on top of that played well.
