How to change your StepMania theme (Zipped files)

This is basically for beginners or for who doesn't know how to change their theme.

If you need anymore help then ask me!

***PLEASE NOTE that some of the themes may only be compatible with StepMania 3.0, so it may not change or it may be corrupt if you are using 3.5 or 4.0!!

@mewkitty4897 It sometimes depends on what the theme is compatible with. The theme could only be compatible with SM 3.5 or 4.0.

It could also depend on what StepMania you're using. 3.0? 3.5? 4.0?

Most of the themes there are only compatible with 3.0

it saids SMZIP but i cant make a theme with that cant I?

SMZIP makes it so that you can automatically install the theme to StepMania. I kinda hate it because it sometimes screws up.

What kind of file did you encounter? RAR? Or smzip?

change .smzip file to .zip and open with appropriate software. move theme folder into the "themes" folder like in the video. if nothing changes after selecting theme in options then stepmania can't access the graphics files because the folder permissions aren't allowing it to. I had to manually change the permissions of every folder within each individual theme's folder to "read and write" in order to get it to work.

I tried extracting the DDR Extreme theme, and I did that. When I went to the appearance options and changed it, nothing happened.

I tried to go to my options but my cousin was using stepmania on my laptop and changed it to "Free play, no coins needed" and I cant go to options or anything ¬¬

I'm trying to download CyberiaStyle 6, but whenever i double click the SMZIP file, like the tutorial says, i end up starting the game. Help me out here?
