'ST stacking' is a technique where the S and T pieces are stacked in a type of pattern to perform continuous back-to-back T-spins, interspersed only with Tetrises. I prefer to do my stacking on the right side--so technically, this video is an example of "ZT Stacking" (I learned from Dumbledors). After every 4 (or more) T-spins, you make a Tetris with the neatly packed stack of pieces left-over.

This is deceptively hard to do in Tetris Splash, especially when things speed up in the last few levels. Some rotation systems in other versions of Tetris allow you to endlessly spin pieces, which gives you plenty of time to think and strategize for your upcoming moves, but in Splash you are only allowed a few seconds of procrasti-spinning before the piece will lock-down into place.

To successfully complete all 15 levels of Marathon in Splash using only this method took me several weeks of practice, and this was only my 2nd time ever getting through it without messing up or by not getting full legitimate 2-line T-spins and 4-line Tetrises. I thought I was screwed right in the last minute or so when I couldn't get a piece in the right spot on time, and I was pretty lucky that the last level ended when it did, because I'm pretty sure I was about to mess up if it kept going. That was a stressful 5 1/2 minutes! I gotta admit it though, this video as proof to myself that I did it is exceedingly gratifying!

  • It's funny, once you start to get into the way of ST / ZT stacking I find it begins to take it's own rhythm or something. That sounds weird I know.... :3

  • Wow! You are good at this! Either you are just that good or all these pieces just line up for you! I'm going with the first.
