Better than average for the boys in high school, I think. What impressed me about this was the stage presence of many of the actors, even in the small roles. Seems unusual for high school.

If you want my opinion, Marius is the only one who can actually sing. Enjolas has his moments but they're sort of rare

Why would anyone hate you for giving a non-abusive opinion? To your opinion, though, I think you must be a singer instead of an actor/actress. To me, the major problem with American professional musical theater these days is that they're all about singing and not at all about acting. "Sing 10, act 3."

Anyway, these are kids, and they are boys. Most of them are not tenors. The lower the note, the tougher it is to hit accurately.

Well when you're in a completely sungthrough show, being able to sing is part of the acting since it is the delivery of the libretto.

No. Singing and acting are two different things. One is a purely technical skill (being able to hit a series of notes with various levels of resonance, volume, timbre, etc.). The other is also technical in some of its aspects, but is the ability to project emotion and hold the audience's attention by entertaining them with that projection.

Most high school shows are absolutely lousy with choral singers who can't act their ways out of a paper bag.

I thought that this was a good performance, but I think you are wrong about singing being purely technical, as I think it has a lot to do with using emotion as well.

I think singing is better when there is emotion. I've seen hundreds of musical theater productions when no emotion (or, at least, no emotion that wasn't overwrought and hammy) was present. This applies to most high school shows, for sure, and too many professional ones.

@Tarhunta Not my high school :) At least.. while the senior class and above and our junior class are here. We have some of the best actors in the part of the state and some of the good singers too. I love singing more than acting because it is hard for me to project my voice and make it louder when I am acting because I usually talk quietly but when I sing.. its easier. I don't know why. Either I'm messed up or idk but I like singing when there is a lot of emotion there too otherwise its boring

Perhaps the video does not do the singing justice (i know what that is like) but I am not impressed. It all looked a bit choppy and...well...staged. It is not bad for a HS preformance, but you just seem to be missing actual heart.

This is great. Brilliant for a high school; I've heard much worse. There was stage presence. Not just good voices. Excellent!

i think it sounds like a bunch of children singing. im not impressed at all and i dont feel the epic feeling you get in your stomach when you hear this song

personally i think that a English cast sounds better, no offense to the americans... I actually really love this video :)
