How about being the wave of the future. After all, interracial marriages are increasing, birth rates of mixed race couples are booming so the population of mixed race is slowly catching up with monoracials. So why not tell them jump in the gene pool and mix it for a change. Don't hate integrate. :) I wonder what the expression on someones face would be if someone told them that. I'd love to be the fly on the wall when someone was told that.

uh! i totally feel you! i hate it when people say "what are you?" the answer is simple really, i'm human, just like the next. a more appropriate way of asking would be "what is your ethnic background?" or "what's your ethnicity?".
i'm black and cherokee and it also pushes my buttons when people try to guess, there's not alot of mixed people where i am so people always treat guessing my ethnicity as a game. it's irritating after a while.

When someone asks what I am I say Communist. You should see the look on their faces.

I like your rationale behind why you answer differently to different people. I am Afro-European (AA, English, French,. Irish). Us, ally I tell people that I am multi-ethnic and , sometimes, also go into the mantra of listing who I come from (as I did above).
However, there have been a few instances that someone has looked at me and yelled out "You mixed, ain't you?", after naming what about it gave me away. One woman was Asian and, I responded, actually, I'm Black. I don't know why, exactly.

I love your video my sister. I like to say "How do you mean?" or "How far back u wanna go?"

I believe that the "WHAT ARE YOU?" is the rudest fucking question in the world and I HATE IT!!! I'm like you and let them know straight up that its not cool to ask that question. I ask them if they are a racist and is that why they want to know what I am??? That shuts them up.

lol wonderful response!! I luv it.

2) Sometimes (when I am quick!) I ask them the same question back about where *they* are from, and I notice that they are often very reluctant and uncomfortable, like I am crossing the line. I understand this, because what I am asking them (strangers) is private information! Then they will *hopefully* realize that their question might have been a bit inappropriate too!

1) Very recognizable! In my case its always white people that ask me where I am from. Sometimes when I am in a bad mood, I elaborate my white fathers’ lineage only. It is not really satisfying though, because in the end: who are *they* (strangers) to be told all my private family information to, anyway? It’s just really annoying.
wow youve just explain what goes on in my life on a daily basis. but keep loving who you are, and embrace all of your races like you are doing :)
