According to FAO's 2011 World Livestock Report, 120 million people depend on livestock for their food security. In contrast to intensive agriculture, hundreds of millions of small producers in the world fight against global warming and are the main victims of climate change.

VSF Europa, the European platform of whom VSF Belgium is member, realized this documentary as part of its European awareness campaign on the role of smallscale livestock farming to address the impacts of climate change. It was filmed in 2011 in Madagascar, Iran and South Sudan to better understand the coping strategies developed by smallholder farmers.
