On September 19, 2011, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood traveled to Union Depot Station in St. Paul, Minnesota, to discuss the importance of passing the American Jobs Act.

Construction is currently under way at the station on what will become the Union Depot Multimodal Transportation Hub. When complete, the new hub will connect Amtrak trains from Milwaukee and Chicago with the new Central Corridor Light Rail Line between St. Paul and Minneapolis. Building this new transit line is expected to create 3,300 jobs, and will include 18 new stations, 31 new rail cars, and a new vehicle maintenance facility.

  • Good Video

  • Keep up the good work Lahood.

  • Ray LaHood is a Chicago democrat from Peoria hiding in the GOP. There is a reason he was chosen by Obama to be Sec of Trans......Caterpillar is under his thumb which means the UAW. This job act is a joke! Hopefully the Senate gives it a thumbs down!
