This is a video of our 4th year design project for Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
The concept is based on designing the brain of an autonomous pool cleaner - that is, localization and maximizing coverage of a swimming pool-like environment.
It uses a compass, 4 ultrasonic sensors, and an accelerometer as its inputs. The controller is a Qwerk board from Charmed Labs running Linux. The software is a state machine.
The PC GUI shown is written in Python for portability and provides live updates to the user.

already did actually, I liked the one that used lasers to measure them, very creative!
i want to build the candy cannon with my coil accelerator now too...
anyhow, I'm more towards applying to mechatronics after seeing these projects on YT. They seem like my kind of thing!

No, I'm in NZ and have just finished form 7 in High School so I'm getting ready for Uni, I'm doing several home courses and reading a lot of books on the subject.
