中国禅宗祖师 之"一花开五叶"

初祖菩提达摩

南天竺国香至王第三子，婆罗门族姓刹帝利，师从般若多罗尊者。于南朝宋、齐间航海至广州，游历各地，授徒说法。因与梁武帝萧衍话不投机，乃北上嵩山少林寺面壁静修，长达九­年，世称"壁观"。西魏文帝大统二年（536年）圆寂，葬于熊耳山（今河南陕县），建塔于宝林寺；唐代宗李豫赐号"圆觉禅师"，塔曰"空观"。今少林寺有"初祖庵"、"面­壁洞"等故迹。

二祖慧可

俗姓姬，初名神光又称僧可。北魏、北齐时洛阳（今属河南）虎牢人。年青时通读老庄之书，兼习佛典。后入洛阳香山师事宝静禅师，出家为僧。受具足戒后，云游听经，遍学大小乘­之义。往少林寺访菩提达摩，然未得接见。候立于积雪中至天明仍不果，乃自断左臂以示求法决心。终被接见并面授心法，遂大悟，得达摩禅法衣钵。隋文帝开皇十三年（539年）­圆寂，时年107岁，葬于磁州滏阳县（今河南磁县）东北70里处。隋文帝杨坚赐号"正宗普觉大师"，唐德宗李适赐号"大祖禅师"。

三祖僧璨

隋代僧人，因参二祖大悟，而得其衣钵。北周武帝灭佛时，因得二祖诲示，遁迹于舒州（今安徽潜山）司空山、皖公山之间。直至隋文帝开皇十三年（590年）才正式驻锡三谷寺（­今潜山三祖寺），公开讲经弘法。将衣钵传道信后，前往广东罗浮山传法。隋炀帝大业二年（606年）在树下为大众讲法时合掌立化。唐代宗李豫赐号"鉴智禅师"，有《信心铭》­一部传世。

四祖道信

俗姓司马，祖籍河内（今河南泌阳），生于广济县。得三祖僧璨衣钵后，初在吉州游化，后入广济、黄梅交界的"双峰山"（现叫一尖二尖）。开山建寺，大兴法门。一改达摩大师以­来传统的游化方式，为禅宗的发展起到了很大的推动作用。唐太宗曾诏请大师进京供养，大师辞谢未去。唐永徽二年（651年）圆寂，葬于西山之阳，塔曰"毗卢"，唐代宗李豫赐­号"大医禅师"。

五祖弘忍

唐代僧人，俗姓周，黄梅濯港人。师从四祖道信，尽得其禅法。唐永徽五年（654年）大师在双峰山东30里之冯茂山，开山建寺，大弘禅法。聚徒讲习，并改用《金刚般若经》替­代《楞伽经》作为禅宗传教经典。晚年将衣钵传给寺中舂米行者惠能，支持顿悟之说。自此禅宗以惠能、神秀而分为南、北两派，南顿北渐，各执一法。唐上元二年（675年）大师­圆寂，葬于东山。唐代宗李豫赐号"大满禅师"。后弟子们将其语录编成专著《最上乘论》。

六祖慧能

唐代僧人，俗姓卢，原籍范阳（今北京市）。唐初，其父被贬往南海新州（今属广东），遂生于此。三岁丧父，稍长即以砍柴为生养活老母。一日卖柴时听人诵《金刚经》而有所悟，­遂北赴黄梅参拜五祖。大师与他交谈，知其根性大利，于是安排在磨房舂米兼做杂役以掩人耳目。后大师为选法嗣，令众弟子作偈。上座师神秀先作一偈"身是菩提树，心如明镜台。­时时勤拂拭，勿使惹尘埃"。惠能听后，请人代笔作偈云"菩提本无树，明镜亦非台。本来无一物，何处惹尘埃"。此偈深得五祖赞许，密授禅法衣钵。为免遭他人加害，惠能躲入山­林混迹猎人群中一十六载。后至韶州（今广东韶关）曹溪宝林寺，弘扬顿悟之法。唐神龙元年（705年），唐中宗李显诏请他入京，谢绝未赴。713年在新州国恩寺圆寂，谥号"­大鉴禅师"。门下弟子将其顿悟之理辑为《 六祖法宝坛经》，后来禅宗发展成为佛教第一大宗派。(录佛典;沧浪书院十周年校庆供稿）---- 更多禅宗 http://www.foz.cn/fyjy/Special/chanzong/Index.html

original parasurama is not from noth india he is from tamilnadu. Padavedu near Thiruvannamalai is the birthplace of parasurama. parasurama is a kshtrariya sage. the capital of sambuvarayar kingdom (a small group of pallava dynasty) is padavedu. there are more than 19 temples in that area which are very old.
