OWS: Adam Carolla's Ignorant Tirade

It's hard not to like stories like Adam Carolla's. Had it rough as a kid, family on welfare, gets involved in sports to stay out of trouble, grows up to be pretty successful in the entertainment industry. Good for him, seriously. But he does serious damage to his credibility and the level of respect he had earned for his life story with his over the top, factually challenged, belligerent rant about the Occupy Wall Street movement.

@mg5679 - Capitalism works until it becomes fascism. The movement IS mad at Obama and the federal government. Have you not noticed it's all over the country, INCLUDING DC? It's called "Occupy Wall Street" because it's from there that the strings that control the majority of Washington policy are pulled. Yes, businesses SHOULD be allowed to fail if they're run poorly. And the fact that the big ones have conned DC into placing all the risk on US proves that the 99% is being screwed.

The occupy and tea party movement are mirror images: a few intelligent (even if you disagree with them) folk looking to make change and a whole pile of ignorant (and overwhelmingly white) shitbags who just want something to bitch about.

They should be mad at the Federal Government for bailing out the banks &the the auto industry. The fact is business should be allowed to fail if they are poorly ran.

1) The point is that his video opened up the discussion by reinvigorating the anti-OWS POV.

2) As I posted before, if you want to talk about the 99% as a monolith, Carolla's rant was disliked by less than 99% and TYT's response got more than 1% dislikes. Carolla's rant video got 70% approval in some counts. And this from a guy who is clearly not trying to please everyone.

3) Carolla's "class envy" justifications are not far off from some of the actual OWS motives.

@jperryam Yes much like the actual protesters themselves, I have no specific idea about the actual OWS gripes (other than derivative tirades of class envy). I also don't understand why the movement has "occupied" Oakland, CA and made it more unlivable.

And just because I'm in the 99% economically, that doesn't mean I'm behind anything the so called 99% is complaining about in their 15 minutes!

@ace11rothstein: Great line about my rant "going urinal." I actually laughed out loud. But the fact that Carolla's went viral does not mean everyone agrees with it. Indeed, there were a boatload of negative comments, many of which specifically stated how they had lost all respect for him...

Here's another clue for you, ace: Unless your annual income exceeds $500k and your net worth is around $8 million, you're in the 99%. Perhaps you should drop the political bent (and/or the hero worship of belligerent tools who like to say "ass douche" over and over again) and do a little more research.
