It does not get any better than that - just different - Not a single affectation - pure, honest, no-frills jazz singing, the likes of which are almost impossible to find now-a-days - we saw Maxine in Toronto in the mid '50's and it was a revelation to all in the club - she brought tears to our eyes on the ballads ... with most singers in these days, it's all about them - with Maxine, it's all about the song & the music .. no big ego thing getting in the way of the music.
