Imagine having to learn 10-12 songs and play them live for a major band in front of thousands of people all in less than a week, you would probably throw some of your own stuff in there like Bernie did instead of playing it dead on note for note.. His solo pretty damn good too, listen to it as something new not as something messed up

  • it's not half as bad as I thought it would be... don't get me wrong, Randy was irreplaceable and had a totally unique style, but for a guy with a COMPLETELY different style and approach to guitar playing and with something like 2 weeks worth of shows under his belt, Bernie held his own pretty darn good...

  • damn he really butchered thats solo

  • @VICIOUSSYMPHONY i bought and read the book that Rudy Sarzo put out abut him and Randy touring together, Rudy never said anything like that. Columbus, Ohio?

  • This wasn't even a month after Randy died I think it was about 17 days after. RIP Randy.

  • Does anyone know if Bernie played any gigs for Randy before Randys death? It was a long time ago but I could swear when Ozzy was Columbus in February '82, my best friends brother came home from the show with a bootleg he made and told us it wasnt Randy playing the show but rather Bernie cause Randy quit.

  • I have the PA show, I should try and dig that one up out of my collection of stuff and upload it, cuz that one is probally the best sounding quality wise compared to the rest of the Ozz/Torme gigs on bootleg

  • Not even close to being as good as Randy. Even Brad Gillis is much better, but still not close to Randy, really. Listen to Brad Gillis at the end of Mr. Crowley. He can't even get the legato and picking fast enough; he has to use the whammy bar to cover it. Jake and Zakk were the only ones on Randy's level, but Randy was always the best one.

  • bernie quit because he had a solo album and tour starting and he suggested brad gillis who was traveling with the road crew because ozzy wouldn't audition him at first

  • Bernie kicks ass! why did ozzy enlist Brad Gillis instead of keeping Bernie?? Must have been the gear
