I used to think we'd nuke ourselves. Now it's looking depressingly likely that we're already locked into destruction through climate change. The "small" warming we've made through CO2 is going to release large amounts of CO2 and methane from melting permafrost, sending things spiraling out of human control even if we collectively were dedicated at stopping it (which we aren't.) My overall comment on the situation, as AVGN would say "what a shitload of fuck."

Yeah I agree Im all for space exploration . And to keep it 100 slightly after the Apollo missions United states should have been planing for colonization on the Moon and Then Mars . Heres a time line 70's to 90's a moon post and colonization. 90's to 2000s a trip to Mars and then 2000 to 2020 a mars colonization. But the Wars and Economics have been a major distraction for the United States. That Bottom line has to be taken care of first or the foundation will toppel.

I think you are right about the "capability to prevent our own demise" and "Anihilate ourselves"
Have you ever seen a dog looking at its own tail flapping around ad biting it and causing itself pain? When he lets go, it moves and then he bites it again and hurts himself again.
Now imagine some great alien race, or many, all watching us now and simply laughing at us and having discussions on whether or not to even bothering to step in and show us how we are biting off our own tail.

Then stick around, Happyfallen! There will be more videos like this. I have a lot of ideas left! ;)
I've just been incredibly busy recently and have not had the time to make any good vids.
Thanks for this.
Wonder if I should take up this Baxer guy or just re-read Stark by Ben Elton
We may be the first spices with the ability to both save and destroy ourselves, but we are probably also the only spices where individuals are capable of going truly insane, and yet surviving to have a great impact on society.
A wild animal will die when it really loses it, but humans all too often go on to be presidents, prime ministers, popes, über imam or tin pot dictator.
Weird isn't it?

Definately pick up some books by Stephen Baxter. I suggest starting with the Manifold series.

This was definitely a good one. I'm going to have to dwell on this a bit before I send you a video response... but I will send you one.
