Testing out a newly serviced PPG Wave 2.3 versus an Ensoniq ESQ-1. They can both sound really analogue and digital.

  • Is it your programming technique or know how that makes that Ensoniq sound so much better than the PPG? I've seen some other PPG demo's and the sounds in this one make it sound restrained or tempered. On the other hand you made that ESQ-1 fly in a way that made me consider it in a way I never had before. Enjoyed watching.

  • @JedoubleKI OK, I admit I didn't have the extended experience of programming the PPG as long as I have learnt the ESQ-1 inside out. I've tried programming a few sounds so I guess this video does not give the PPG justice really. It's a great synth.

  • Where you using any effects?

  • @shckltnebay no effects used

  • I had an ESQ1, wish I hadn't sold it.

  • PPG anytime!!!

  • 0:49 Damn those are some SICK patches on the ESQ-1. I'm getting one next weekend to incorporate into some funk and house tracks I'm working on. So excited.

  • @lesingemonotone I disagree, plus the SQ-80 has polyphonic aftertouch. The playability of the SQ-80 is pretty amazing in my opinion.
