Sandeep Unnikrishnan we salute you

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan studied @ Frank Anthony Public school. He was popular student with fantastic record in atlethic too. Many of his records were broken after many years. He finished his schooling in 1995 and joined the army, despite being the only son, he joined the defense against the wishes of his parents. He had made up his mind to join the army in class VIII . His father served and retired form ISRO. They were given the bad news that he succumbed to bullet injuries while saving both his colleagues. Never give up your buddies in extreme danger was the motto in the army.

Born on Ides of March 1977, After completing his ICSE, he joined 7th Bihar regiment on June 12, 1999. He underwent vigorous counter insurgency operations and was absorbed in NSG in January 20th, 2007 and became a team commander of 51 SDG.

On Thursday evening Sandeep led the counter terrorist operation in the Taj, engaged himself in combining operations leading from the front. His colleague was caught in the gun fire. Sandeep was on hot pursuit of terrorist who was climbing the staircase going to the next higher floor. He engaged the terrorist in a fierce gun battle by covering his colleague who was injured. Ultimately the terrorist fired several rounds of bullets into his body wherein he succumbed in line of duty. He was married to child hood friend and classmate Neha. He has died at a ripe age of 31 leaving behind his widowed wife and parents.

We salute you Major, it is the because of your brave leadership, we find inspiration to face the future challenges amidst terror ridden environment. I am sure your sacrifice will not go in vain. You will be remembered in the annals of history as a leader who took on terror headlong and became a martyr in the cause of fighting terror. Bangalore will always be proud of you for your sacrificing your life to the nation.

What kind of politicians we are electing?. When Israeli Soldier Yoni Netanyahu was killed in Operation Entebbe, the first sentence the then defense minister of Israeli asked is how Yoni was killed. When unni Krishnan died then the state Govt didnt even send a representative for his funeral. Our politicians should be served in Israeli army before they contest in elections.

well the basic fact of life affects such high profile individuals. I don t want to speculate whether the gal in the picture was Neha or not. Meanwhile Neha was seen in the funeral crowd and she definitely participated in the ceremony as per reports. Probably because of his pre occupation with NSG as instructor was not able to devote much time for family. Let us rest the controversy over his personal life. It is similar to Gandhi's personal life i suppose
