  • I used to memorise it as '(S)earch and replace' but you're probably right, thanks for the comment.

  • Instead of 1,$ you can also type % to let the scope be the whole file.

  • I use the command ":set number" to display numbers. I noticed you used ":se nu" which is easier to type, but a little harder to remember. Just pointing this out for other vi users. :)
