This is an Easter Egg, as reported on the GameFAQs God of War 2 Board. %

% From the many trials I've conducted, it seems that this Easter Egg has %
% to be activated within a minute. %

% You can do this before or after the Reflect Optic Beams PUZZLE. In %
% either case, head to the left of the ladder and across the beams. To %
% the north is a Green orb chest, if you haven't opened it yet. To the %
% west, after jumping over a planter box, is the chest that contained a %
% phoenix feather. To the west of the chest is a stone pedestal in an %
% alcove, similar to the one you broke before putting Perseus's shield in %
% the statue's hands. %
% %
% Jump on top of the stone pedestal. On the top of the pedestal, near its %
% western edge, is a small white, star-like marking. Position Kratos as %
% close to the western edge as possible. Turn him to the right (north), %
% so his left foot is covering the white star-like marking. Press R1. %
% (Time = 0:00). %

& Head to the east, and lift the wooden door and head across the %
% threshold. (Time = ~ 0:15). Head north to the ledge where the Fates %
% Guardsmen appeared from earlier. Jump onto the ledge, then go as far to %
% the left as you can. There is another white star-like marking. Turn %
% Kratos to one side so his foot is close to covering the star. Press R1 %
% again. (Time = ~ 0:22). %

% Head under the archway. After proceeding under the archway, the camera %
% angle will shift. Head to the north, but hug the wall to the right. %
% At the base of the wall, near the wall's center, there is another white %
% star-like marking on the ground. Again, position Kratos so one of his %
% feet is covering the star. Press R1. (Time = ~ 0:30). %

% Proceed along the balcony, and make use of the grappling points as %
% before. Swing and jump to the other balcony. (Time = ~ 0:38). Go %
% along the balcony and follow the bend to the right. Head to the wooden %
% knot button to the north. Unlike last time, don't wait until the %
% branches are fully extended. As soon as the button is pushed down fully %
% (Time = ~ 0:45), slow down time. Go across the branches as quickly as %
% you can. Once on the island, make note of the thin root above ground %
% that is close to the branch-bridge. Near the tip of this root, there is %
% another white star-like marking. Press R1. (Time = ~ 0:55). %

% If this was done correctly, red orbs will be drawn out of the tree in %
% the middle of the island (roughly 3000 in Titan, up to 9000 in Mortal) %
% while writing in the sky will outline the words: "NOW I AM BECOME DEATH %
% THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS." %

% Make your way back to the Courtyard of Atropos by using the bridge/vine %
% bridges.
