These Guizhou Mong call themselves "Mong Du", but they speak the Mong Dawb version. Others called them "Hei Miao". Mong Leng and Mong Daw (White Mong) are the same language with different accents and pronunciations on various words.

For all respect, since you now know that they are Mong, do not label them Miao. They are hard-working people just like any other ethnics, and they deserve to be called by their ethnic Mong name.

  • The term "Hmong" is pronounced, "Shimon" in the Hebrew language. Hmong is a Lost Tribe of Israel, descendent of Simeon, one of 12 sons of Jacob, son of Abraham. Originally, Hmong is from Israel, not Mongolia nor China. If you look at it closely, the Jewish s original term for God is, "Yeshua" (Ya-shua) & in our language is, "Yawm Sauj" (Yer-shou). Two syllables, monotone dialect. Find out more by reading the Bible ..

  • @InsearchofHmong Thanks for bringing the bible into the Mong history. It reminds me of a time that one Christian Mong told me that their church believes that Mong was San Miao because they think San Miao was from Samuel. I was shocked on how Mong [Hmong] was so lost, and started to claim their roots to Israel. The problem is that the name "Mong" existed at the Yellow River Basin over 2700 years ago. Chistianity is a good faith, but we need to preserving the Mong heritage.

  • After watching your vd, seems that your Mong/Hmong language skills is exceptionally good. Can you explain why most Mong people are using two dialects esp WhiteHmong & Mong admittance. What was the explanation to their origination?

  • @ Serfius666 ***This is a sensitive subject. Due to warfare, Mong took sides fought for different factions; and under those circumstances, they lived into different regions. Their languages changed depending where they were. They later meet up with one another and realized that they had different language dialects. However, Mong Dawb dialect became the new trend in Indo China during Lauj Kab Toom and Nbis Lis era under the French influence that was continued to be promoted into the west.

  • What city is this??? I'm in Guiyang for more than a year. I've been searching for the miaos that speak the same dialect as the hmong in usa. I've been to Kaili, LiuPanShui, Guiyang, Dunyun and ZunYi. Where's this place at???

  • @califazn08 Sorry for not getting with you sooner. Those who admit to the name Mong, Mo, Mu (or A'Mong A'Mo A'Mu) all speak similar Mong. However, some have a much more different version than the Mong in the west. Those that can speak very close to Mong live around Guiyang and to the west. They can be found at Anshun, Duyun, Nayong, Liu Pashui and many more mountain towns into the far west Guizhou. This town is outside of Nayong. Those on east Guizhou can also, but much harder to understand.

  • my dear fellow Hmong brothers/sisters, please do not bash those who are interested in learning our history. It is the best experience ever to meet our fellow Hmong in China.

I visited Anshun City, Kaili, and Xijiang (all in Guizhou) and I was in tears becasue I felt like going back into time.

I encourage all of you to make time to visit our people, see how poor they are, and do something to help.
