This is just a fun vid with a "dream cast" of sorts for the new "Dark Shadows" movie. I worked on this with my mom, since we both looked up actors/actresses together. It's our take on the faces that might better suit the characters. Since, I'm not all too happy with some of the (official?) cast that Burton has lined up.

Here's the thing. I can never remember much of anything about celebs and such. Seriously. I'm all, "Hey! It's Merlin! Uh, I mean...it's what's his name that PLAYS Merlin! What IS his name again anyway?" XD A lot of these were random picks, some we had to look up. Spent a while just browsing faces. I know most of the original "Dark Shadows" since I've been watching that show for so many years, but most actors are no more familiar to me than that random kid up the street that I never talk to.

"Harry Potter" fans, I'm sure you'll notice Alan Rickman cast as Barnabas in this. My mom picked that one...any surprise? I'm sure her obsession with Snape had *nothing* to do with it. LOL. Actually, I can kind of see it working. Just give Rickman the right hair, and his face works well for Barnabas, in my opinion anyway.

Please: no hate. If you have a better pick for any of the characters, that's cool! That's more than cool. Share them with me! I'm just posting this now since I've seen nasty comments from people who have some kind of issue with an actor/etc. I really don't care if you hate *name of actor here* for some reason and think I'm stupid for "casting" them in this. This is JUST for FUN so don't take it seriously...and smile, damnit. :D

Now, on to the full cast as we have it...

Barnabas Collins...Alan Rickman
Angelique Bouchard Collins...Gillian Anderson (My friend Penni agrees on this, she's pretty!)
Julia Hoffman...Susan Sarandon
Quentin Collins...Joaquin Pheonix
Maggie Evans/Josette...Amanda Crew
Willie Loomis...Tom Lenk (hey at least my pick has HAIR. *cough* @ Burton)
Caroyln Stoddard...Alison Lohman
Elizabeth Stoddard...Carole Bouquet
Roger Collins...Darren Boyd
Joe Haskell...Rider Strong
Victoria Winters...Christina Ricci

...and one more of Rickman as Barnabas. LOL.

Hats off to the original cast! No one can ever portray these characters like they did. There's only one, true Barnabas. Same for the others! When they DO remake epic classics like this, I like them to stay as true to the original actor's portrayals of their characters as possible. I also like when they keep the images of the characters at least somewhat the same. That's just me though, and now I'm ranting.

ALSO: The stick figures of Barnabas, Julia & Willie are from the famous "Dark Shadows" Stick Figure Theatre. I just revamped their...figures a little. You can watch a saved version of these funny flicks here: http://www.collinsport.sarawebsite.com/stickfigures/index.html

  • Great job! Another possiblity for Barnabas is Zachary Quinto, the actor who played Spock in the most recent Star Trek film. A little makeup plus the inverness coat and cane and he would look exactly like Barnabas Collins. I think he could also invoke the aura of mystery that surrounds the character.

  • I think your choices are much better than the picks for the movie, except for the person you pick for Vicki, who is a good actress, but too old to play Vicki, however the actress chosen looks like she's a teenager! Best pick of all Snape as Barnabas! But Helena Bonham Carter should be a great Julia! Michelle Pfeiffer as Liz, what?

  • Great Dream, very Good. I would like to know whom you would have cast in the Flinstone Movie? Lee G Denver CO.

  • Very good casting. Your choices actually favor many of the original actors. I have many choices for Barnabas, however, including Tim Dutton and Henry Ian Cusick, among others.

  • nice job!
