Just finished my mount for my 8" newtonian relector telescope. Used 3" pipe fittings, 1" steel rods for the axis, and various aluminum and brass castings for the rest of the mount. All castings were machined on a mini lathe and mini mill.

nice metal waterpipe for use a telescope,,,

    but too heavy weight,,,

    try use aluminium pipes,,,

how about 2 cable gearbox handles controls,,,

1 handle for down and up positions,,,

1 another handle for left and right positions

  • Very nice work - thanks for sharing!

  • Nice work. The standard 45deg. elbow works for you at 45deg LAT, but us at 34.1deg LAT will have to resort to custom fab to meet our polar axis alignment.

  • i dunno how align my eq mount.....you just go and make one LOL

  • Nice work. Your machining skills are getting real good.

  • That is a pretty amazing mount. I am working on a similar mount for my 12.5 inch f/7 Newtonian reflector. I am using two inch fittings and 12x 1 1/2 inch i.d nipples with Babbitt as the bearings.

Where did you purchase the three inch fittings? I have been looking for these without success.

    Best regards,

    Francis J. O'Reilly
