Google Chrome Malware Attack - Google Image Search Hijack

Quick video showing how anyone can be infected with malware. Using Google Chrome I did an image search and the result was redirected to a fake antivirus scanner. I could not close out of the tab or window and clicking the X on the dialog box was just like clicking OK. Had to ctrl-alt-del and end the Chrome application, this was the only way to escape without starting the install process for whatever malware it was. Hopefully my antivirus would have caught it.

This just happened to me.... Does this mean my computer has malware now, or am I safe if I closed it quickly?

@oaklandrmoss18 I have no way of knowing. All I can say is that you might want to scan your computer with your updated antivirus just in case. Or maybe Malwarebytes or Hitmanpro might be a good idea.. Wish you luck!

Simple message for PC users,there's no browsers that can protect you 100% from any malware attack/infection.

@bob10308 In this particular case I think Firefox could have prevented the redirection if the option was set in settings for warn on redirect. But you are right, no browser is perfect!

@ratradio Maybe it was blocked or the redirect fixed because when I found it I reported the link to Google.

@grantdb1 Just fully scanned my computer with Mcafee. Said I have no viruses but im still skeptical. Thanks anyways, Ill figure this out
