Yesterday, our staff participated in possibly the most involved and intimate part of the training and orientation process. Since many of our campers have physical disabilities, they will need help from their counselors for basic, personal care. The most frequent help that they will need is getting dressed.
Head Counselor Amber Cotney and Unit Leader Monica Whittington instructed the girl counselors in proper techniques, while Head Counselor Nathan McNair and Unit Leader Josh Smith instructed the boys. Counselors put each each other into pajamas and jackets while lying on a bed and also in a wheelchair. As usual, communication was one of the points that they emphasized most!
