Tadatsune fought well in the first game - bit of a pity that he gave up on skirmishing in the second. Keep in mind the fact that sone was level 9 and that he was only level 7 at this point so Tadat was always going to be at a disadvantage in a melee fight. The disparity in cavalry quality between the two is pretty large also.
Tadatsune has been fighting more battles recently to bring his units up to speed and will be re-challenging Sone at some point in the future.
