In July 1976 I drove with my Citroen 2CV4 from Srinagar to Leh in Kashmir. The narrow road was in very bad condition. On the way I encountered around 50 trucks coming from Kargil. They all parked their huge trucks at the side of the extremely dangerous abyss to let me pass at the safe side of the road. Amazing! They saved my life while taking big risks themselves. Thanks a lot, my great Indian friends!
