thats entertainment interact with crowd and make them feel what your feeling. Not walk back and forht on the stage with your pants sagging raising your hands in the air. Boy our people have realy fallen off ...

I've watched this many times, but I'm still in awe how he works the crowd from cold soup into a hot gumbo in less than 5 min. on one song. Brilliant. And Steve Jordan on drums propels this groove to a new level of funk. This was recorded in 1982, James was either pushing or beyond 50 years old. You can tell by the twinkle in his eye that perhaps substance abuse had begun. "Entertainment" is a joke today compared to this moment.

JB's last, great, mid-blowing tv performance. Wish I coulda' been there.

@Phunkville substance abuse? cocaine was required to do a few hundred shows a year at this level, an occupational hazard, as who wouldn't want to snuff with James Brown? Is he not free to put whatever he choses in his body? Rhetorical question in the era of the fascist drug regime - none of us are free, especially Rastafarians who have no religious freedom of any kind; aside from the freedom to convert to Islam while in prison.

Anyone in that Audience was might Lucky to have been there.

That was so funky I had to pause half-way through the clip just to have a rest otherwise I would've overloaded from too much funk. I couldn't stand it. Ok I'm going to watch the rest, here I go....

I've been trying to post the full show, but it keeps coming out "out of sync" - audio not in time with video!

I hope you can do that it would be wonderful, i have been a fan of Mr. Brown since 1957 when he was lead singer for the famous flames. I have seen him in concert over the years and to me he was the best performer i have ever seen. Thanks again for the post !!
