@fallen4life080 Unless you're into cladistics. "Monkey" is a paraphyletic group.

That is cute.

Im majoring in Veterinary Zoology, and some of these comments are a little ignorant.....like a pet peeve of mine is when Americans (i say americans cuz they tend to confuse this term the most) see a gorilla and say "look at the cute monkey"......Gorillas arent monkeys, theyre apes, just like us.

@lespaul678 Cougars are not in the family Felis, they are in the genus Puma (which to be fair was only changed a while back). All cats belong to the family Felidae. Cheetahs, leopards, lions, and tigers are in the genus Panthera. All other cats are in either genus felis or their own respective genii.
The cat family is a little confusing in that classifications change periodically, but they have always been in the family Felidae.

@RedxBlackxEmo yups, Cheetah's (Acinonyx jubatus, family Felidae) aren't the same as leopards (Panthera pardus, also Felidae) and are definatly able to purr, as you may have deduced from this video. lespaul678 was correct in that only Felidae can purr, but the cheetah also belongs to this family. But maybe this was the point he was trying to make, dunno.
Must stab myself...with dagger...to recover...manliness...

Lions, tigers and leopards belong to the family Panthera and DO NOT PURR at any time in their life. Only cougars, which are in the family Felis, same as house kitties, actually purr.
