This movie gets nothing but hate, but it's actually quite fascinating the way they interpreted so many disparate game elements and filtered them through a seedy 90's Outer Boroughs lens. Big Bertha as a fat sassy black woman, shyguys as masked sanitation workers, the Koopalings as Bowser's scheming guido nephews, and Bowser himself as a crooked mob boss. The nod to Toadstool being imprisoned in the castle was quite clever as well.
