Actually Queen Victoria had dropped it alltogether, King Edward VII revived it, introducing many novelties and it was King George V who introduced the wearing of the crown, although he detested cerimonial and pageantry! But King George V believed it was his duty to the people and the nation to wear the crown as a sign of sovereignty and freedom of the British Nation(s)! This "tradition" is not that "traditional"! But it's the absolute right thing to do!
