Doubleheader with Southern Pacific steam locomtives 2472 and 4449 running from San Jose to Watsonville and back. First scene was shot just outside Watsonville. Second was in Watsonville. Third was westbound at the Gillroy wigwag signal (later removed in 1995). This was the last wigwag signal on the SP Coastline in the SF Bay Area and by now was only protecting a pedestrian crossing.

  • Comparing 4449 with 2472 is like comparing Kimbo Slice with Verne Troyer.

  • Very enjoyable. Thanks for uploading it.

  • @trainboy94 As well as traveling at much higher speed and at much greater distances!

  • I haven't givin up hope on the 2472 running back on the mainline. the 2472 is a locomotive that really deserves to ou t on the mainline!

  • The spot starting at 0:01 is not Watsonville; its actually Aromas, California and its the Rogge Land Crossing. I used to live by this area for almost 20 years and I have videos on my youtube account of trains going through this same area.

The spot at 0:31 is Watsonville

O my gawd there is a wig wag at 2:04!!!! DANG!!!!

    Nice vid

by no means! 4449 is much more powerful than 2467, but her smaller size allows her to speed through the canyon on sharper curves than 4449. 4449 would go at most 50 through the canyon.

  • @SierraRailway Does that mean that the 2467 is more powerful than the 4449?

  • hell seeing that locomaotive comeing toward that wigwag is priceless I only wish mine was restoreable the UP destroyed it by the time I got it

  • @pdwman LOL now thats a comparison I havent ever heard of untill now very interesting LOL

  • @trainboy94 I agree 2472 should be back out on the mainline where she can run more freely and actually travel more differnernt places, she diserves it
