I'd just like to chip in that I put one together using almost exactly these specs (1.5" piping fit my plates better) and it took very little time to grab this stuff with just seconds to put it together. So far it works a treat. Not including the plates, the materials cost me around 30 bucks and that was money very well spent.
Thanks a ton for this idea! It occurs to me I could also use it as a thick bar for basic barbell exercises too, with an extra nipple on it.
Good man, you are another thinking person that has beaten the greedy retail system that they use at Torque Athletic with their ridiculous prices for mace bells.
Just put it together today a bonus is that I have 7ft of pipe left for thick bar exercises !!!
