Opeth - Deliverance pt I (live at Hovet, Stockholm 2009)

I went to see the Progressive Nation Tour 2009 at Hovet in Stockholm, Sweden. As a support to Dream Theater, Opeth simply ruled and may well have attracted more audience than Dream Theater. It's thanks to Opeth that I went there, but Dream Theater is a massive experience, even though their setlist wasn't very good in my opinion. Fortunately there was a lot of empty chairs at the bottom row, so we went down there to get the best view.

I have recorded Deliverance using a Pentax Optio M30 and edited it using Magix Music Maker 10 Deluxe. It's split into two parts since it's about 13 minutes and too much for Youtube. I'm sorry about the crackling noise appearing sometimes, that's the reason why I record the audio to my covers using an mp3-player. It's the camera's reaction to high volumes I believe.

Their setlist was pretty good, but I only have Deliverance, Blackwater Park and The Candlelight Years thus far, so I didn't know all songs. They were still awesome though, and now I know for sure that I've got to buy them all! But one song was missing, arguably the best Opeth song ever: Master's Apprentices :/

They did play that song, but I've only bought Blackwater Park, Deliverance and The Candlelight Years so far, so I didn't know of any other songs basically. I knew they were going to play Deliverance (I checked out the Helsinki setlist) so I decided to go for that one. Besides, I only have 1 GB and 256 MB memory cards, so I didn't have any space left for another song (since they're 10 minutes long lol). Thanks! Yeah, they're simply awesome.

It seems you shouldn't be directly across from the stage then. Why didn't you know further towards the stage? There was plenty of chairs. :D

It depends on where you stand. The bass is a lot more audible if you're in front of the stage, standing. I was sitting, and not in front of the stage, so the mix sounds better. But in my location, the bass could've been louder in my opinion...
